Watch Bundle With Ommaya Admin

Question: Can we code fluid aspiration for testing when we administer methotrexate through an Ommaya tap?

Michigan Subscriber Answer: Your best bet is to report either 61020 (Ventricular puncture through previous burr hole, fontanelle, suture, or implanted ventricular catheter/reservoir; without injection) or 61070 (Puncture of shunt tubing or reservoir for aspiration or injection procedure), depending on which more accurately describes the procedure the provider performed.

Snag: Bundling edits may affect your reimbursement for these services when you report them on the same day as injection or administration procedures.
