Report Humphrey 10-2 Test as 'Extended' VF

Question: We now use procedure code 92083 for a 30-2 visual field. We think we should also be using 92083 for a 10-2 red visual field, but we're not sure. Is that the correct code?

Answer: You are right. Report 92083 (Visual field examination, unilateral or bilateral, with interpretation and report; extended examination) for the 10-2 red visual field. The CPT definition of 92083 includes the Humphrey 30-2 program as an example of an "extended examination," but even though the definition does not specifically mention the Humphrey 10-2 VF, 92083 is the code to report.
