Keep This in Mind When Making Your Decision to Hire a PT

In September 2006, the South Carolina Supreme Court ruled in favor of what is known as the -SC Anti-POPTS Law.- It is now illegal for physicians in South Carolina to employ physical therapists in POPTS (physician ownership of physical therapy services) settings, and the therapists must find another way to practice. Missouri also bars physicians from referring patients to PTs with whom the physician has a financial relationship.

If you are considering hiring a physical therapist, be sure to research your state policy on these issues before you decide.
