READER QUESTIONS:

Use 94799 for Maximal Respiratory Pressure Measurements

Question: What CPT codes, if any, should I use to report maximum inspiratory pressure and maximum  expiratory pressure?

Colorado Subscriber
Answer: You have no code to choose for the measurement of maximal inspiratory and maximal expiratory pressures. The American Medical Association is considering creating a CPT code for these measurements.

Until a specific code becomes available, you should use the unlisted-procedure code 94799 (Unlisted pulmonary service or procedure) to report maximal respiratory pressures.
