'Operative Field' Guides 75898 Coding

Question: Should I report 75898 once per study? Colorado Subscriber Answer: You typically may report 75898 (Angiography through existing catheter for follow-up study for transcatheter therapy, embolization or infusion) once per operative field per session, according to CPT Assistant (December 2007). Tip: Multiple vessels in the same extremity are in the same operative field. Exception: The AMA doesn't include central nervous system or intracranial completion angiography in this "once per operative field" rule. When you do report more than one completion angiography on a claim, CPTAssistant recommends using modifier 59 (Distinct procedural service) on the second and subsequent code to indicate their distinct nature. You also should be on the lookout for all-in-one codes, such as 37210 (Uterine fibroid embolization [UFE, embolization of the uterine arteries to treat uterine fibroids, leiomyomata], percutaneous approach inclusive of vascular access, vessel selection, embolization, and all radiological supervision and interpretation, intraprocedural roadmapping, and imaging [...]
