Correction:

Use 96402 Instead of G0356 for Some Payers

Our September 2005 issue included an error in the Reader Question "Don't 'Waste' Unused Drug Portion." The last paragraph read: "For commercial payers that don't accept the new G codes, use CPT 96440 (Chemotherapy administration into pleural cavity, requiring and including thoracentesis) rather than G0356." The code should have been 96400 (Chemotherapy administration, subcutaneous or intramuscular, with or without local anesthesia), not 96440.

CPT deleted code 96400 for 2006, however. Starting this year, you'll use code 96402 (Chemotherapy administration, subcutaneous or intramuscular; hormonal anti-neoplastic).
