READER QUESTIONS:

Penile Torsion Repair

Question: A 5-year-old patient had the MAGPI procedure and repair of penile torsion. I've researched under repair, penile, and torsion and still can't find anything. How should I code this?

Answer: You should report 54322 (One stage distal hypospadias repair ...) for the meatal advancement and glanuloplasty (MAGPI) procedure. For the repair of the penile torsion, use 14040 (Adjacent tissue transfer or rearrangement ...) because this is the closest code for this portion of the procedure.
