There are a few additional bundling edits you should make note of before sending any 2014 claims:

  • Cutaneous placement and removal of ureteral stent codes 50382-50386 bundle new CPT® code 52356 as well as 50947 (Laparoscopy, surgical; ureteroneocystostomy with cystoscopy and ureteral stent placement) and 50948 (... ureteroneocystostomy without cystoscopy and ureteral stent placement), but these edits have a modifier indicator of 1.
  • Renal endoscopy code 50561 (Renal endoscopy with stone or foreign body removal) bundles 50961, 50980, 52320, 52325, 52332 (Cystourethroscopy, with insertion of indwelling ureteral stent [eg, Gibbons or double-J type]), 52352, and 52353 (...with lithotripsy [ureteral catheterization is included]). All have a modifier indicator of 1.
  • Column 1code 50980 bundles column 2 codes 50961, 52320, 52325, 52330, and 52352. These edits have a modifier indicator of 1.
  • The new code 52356 (Cystourethroscopy, with ureteroscopy and/or pyeloscopy; with lithotripsy including insertion of indwelling ureteral stent [eg, Gibbons or double-J type]), acting as a column 1 code, bundles commonly billed codes 51701-51703 (... catheter insertion ...), 52000 (Cystourethroscopy [separate procedure]), 52001 (Cystourethroscopy with irrigation and evacuation of multiple obstructing clots), 52005 (Cystourethroscopy, with ureteral catheterization, with or without irrigation, instillation, or ureteropyelography, exclusive of radiologic service), and many more urological and gynecological CPT codes, Ferragamo says.
  • Code 50980 (Ureteral endoscopy through ureterotomy, with or without irrigation, instillation, or ureteropyelography, exclusive of radiologic service; with removal of foreign body or calculus) bundles second column codes 50961, 52320, 52325, 52330, and 52352. These edits have a modifier indicator of 1.
  • Column one code 52325 bundles column 2 codes 50961 and 52320, both with a modifier indicator of 1.
  • Code 52353 bundles column 2 codes 50961, 50980, 52320, 52325, and 52330. All of these edits have a modifier indicator of 1.
