A question about a patient who has Medicare insurance and had a screening colonoscopy at the hospital that ended up being an incomplete procedure and a follow-up barium enema was done. Radiology used G0120 'Colorectal Cancer Screening; Alternative to G0105, Screening Colonoscopy, Barium Enema'. I also added ICD10 Z53.09 'Procedure and treatment not carried out because of other contraindication' with the other ICD10's.
I am asking if the modifier 74 should be appended to the G0120. I am not sure if the modifier 74 (hospital) applies to the barium enema or would apply to the incomplete colonoscopy to show why the barium enema was done?
