Hello, Can someone guide me on how to count the nerves studied in an NCS? Is it per extremity or the total number of nerves? Are combined sensory-motor nerves counted as well when tested? Which EMG code should be used when muscles other than the extremities are tested during NCS, for example, serratus anterior or trapezius? Links to reliable resources would be beneficial.

The first place to start is in Appendix J of the CPT book. Be sure to read the guidelines at the beginning of the EMG section and NCS section.
