Don’t Miss Cardiology Updates in the 2021 CPT® Errata

Question: Were there any 2021 errata updates for cardiology? I think I missed them for some reason.

Answer: Yes. The American Medical Association (AMA) has released the CPT® 2021 Errata and Technical Corrections that it made to the 2021 CPT® manual. There were a couple changes for cardiology, and the effective date for these updates was January 1, 2021.

First, the word “catheterization” was misspelled in the code descriptor for 33745, so that was corrected. The letter “te” were added to make this correction.

Also, there was an incorrect page number in the guidelines under “Category I, Medicine, Cardiovascular Cardiac Catheterization.” The guidelines said, “Please see the cardiac catheterization table located on page 682.” But the correct page number is actually 746.
