See How Your State's Medicare Spending Compares

Interested in seeing where your state's spending is trending? You can check out recently released data resource from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of the Actuary. The OACT breaks down health spending by state in new resources at www.cms.gov/Research-Statistics-Data-and-Systems/Statistics-Trends-and-Reports/NationalHealthExpendData/NationalHealthAccountsStateHealthAccountsResidence.html. For example: The state with the highest per enrollee Medicare spending in 2014 was New Jersey at $12,614 - roughly 15 percent above the national average of $10,986. In contrast, Montana had the lowest per enrollee Medicare spending at $8,238 - 25 percent below the national average.
