Botox Codes Gets a Facelift

New codes out for Dysport; older J codes get updated. Although out on the market for some time now, Dysport previously was reported as an unclassified drug. This will change for 2010 as CMS rolls out a new code for this product. Also in store are some changes to the other Botox codes. Report New Code for Dysport Dysport, the brand name for the neurotoxin abobotulinumtoxinA, will have its own HCPCS code for 2010. CMS introduced code J0586 (Injection, abobotulinumtoxinA, 5 units) for Dysport. Coders were previously reporting J3490 (Unclassified drugs) for this product. Dysport comes in two preparations: a single-use, sterile 500 unit vial typically used for cervical dystonia and a single-use, sterile 300 unit vial commonly used for cosmetic purposes in treatment of glabellar lines.
