Report 95905 for Preconfigured Nerve Conduction Studies

New code distinguishes lower paying test from traditional NCS. You may have mixed feelings about CPT 2010's new code for nerve conduction studies done with preconfigured electrode arrays. Replace 95999 With 95905 If you previously had trouble reporting preconfigured nerve conduction studies to different insurers with different standards, then CPT's new code just might fix this for you. Effective Jan. 1, 2010, nerve conduction studies (NCS) performed with preconfigured arrays previously reported using 95999 (Unlisted neurological or neuromuscular diagnostic procedure) will be replaced with 95905 (Motor and/or sensory nerve conduction, using preconfigured electrode array(s), amplitude and latency/ velocity study, each limb, includes F-wave study when performed, with interpretation and report). Having a code specific to preconfigured NCS will streamline the process for reimbursements, says Mike MacDonald, vice president for marketing of Neurometrix.
