Question: Can I bill 57270 with 57200?

Alabama Subscriber

Answer: The Correct Coding Initiative does not bundle 57200 (colporrhaphy, suture of injury of vagina [nonobstetrical]) and 57270 (repair of enterocele, abdominal approach [separate procedure]). Code 57270 is for an abdominal approach enterocele repair and is a CPT "separate procedure" that would require modifier -59 (distinct procedural service) to bypass any Medicare edit. This assumes you have met the CPT requirement for modifier -59 (different session or patient encounter, different procedure or surgery, different site or organ system, separate incision/excision, separate lesion or separate injury [or area of injury in extensive injuries] not ordinarily encountered or performed on the same day by the same physician).
