Reader Question:

SNF Injection Reimbursement

Question: Please provide information on the J codes for injections and skilled nursing facility (SNF).

North Carolina Subscriber

Answer: There is no Part B reimbursement to the physician for injectable drugs provided by the physician to a SNF patient. Payment for drugs and other supplies is made to the facility. If the physician requests a drug that is not stocked by the facility pharmacy, arrangements must be made by the facility to obtain the drug for physician use.
