This is a Proprietary Laboratory Analyses (PLA) code, meaning that the code applies to only one unique lab test made by a specific manufacturer or performed by a specific lab. Report 0553U only for Smart PGT–A Plus from Igenomix®, part of Vitrolife Group™, and Thermo Fisher Scientific. This test assesses in vitro fertilization (IVF) embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before implantation. A sample of the trophectoderm (from the outer layer of cells in the embryo) is tested for 24 chromosomes to detect issues such as structural rearrangements, extra or missing chromosomes, and mosaicism. It also provides a mitochondrial DNA score. Results indicate whether the embryo has normal chromosomes or specific abnormalities.
