This is a Proprietary Laboratory Analyses (PLA) code, meaning that the code applies to only one unique lab test made by a specific manufacturer or performed by a specific lab. Report 0556U only for HealthTrackRx from Thermo Fisher Scientific. This test checks for bacterial and viral infections in the respiratory tract. It uses real–time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology to detect the DNA or RNA of 12 different possible pathogens. The sample is collected using a swab from either the nose or throat. The test includes a reverse transcription step to convert RNA into DNA, allowing viruses with RNA to be analyzed. Each result is reported as either detected or not detected.
