This test predicts the risk of kidney function decline in individuals with diabetic chronic kidney disease. It analyzes a blood plasma sample using an enzyme–linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to detect the levels of two proteins: apolipoprotein A4 (APOA4) and CD5 antigen–like (CD5L). These results are combined with the patient's estimated glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and age to produce a risk score through an algorithm.
