The provider inserts a catheter into a blood vessel and advances it to the inferior vena cava, a large vein that returns blood to the heart. The provider then implants a wireless sensor to continuously monitor hemodynamic parameters, such as blood pressure. The procedure includes radiological supervision and interpretation, right heart catheterization, and venography (a type of imaging that uses contrast dye to visualize veins), when performed.
