Summary
The provider removes full–thickness skin from the patient to prepare an autologous heterogeneous skin–construct graft. Full–thickness skin includes both the epidermis, which is the outer protective layer of the skin, and the dermis, which is the deeper layer that contains connective tissue, blood vessels, and structural support. The provider closes the donor site directly. This code applies to each additional 5 square centimeters, or part thereof, after the initial 5 square centimeters.
