Summary

The provider artificially creates the contour of a breast by harvesting a flap of skin, fat, and transverse rectus abdominis muscle (TRAM) from the lower abdomen, leaving a small strip of vascularized tissue connected to the original site, and sutures the flap to the location of the original breast to restore cosmetic appearance following breast removal surgery or to repair a defect.
