The provider creates a tunnel inside the pulmonary artery to access the opening of the anomalous coronary artery. He then anastomoses, or joins, the coronary artery to the aorta. He performs this procedure to treat congestive heart failure, typically in infants with congenital heart defects but sometimes in adults.
