While performing a primary procedure, the provider makes an incision in the abdominal or retroperitoneal area to locate the iliac artery for placement of an endovascular prosthesis (a tubelike device to improve blood flow) or an occlusion device to obstruct blood flow. She then continues with the primary procedure. Report this procedure separately in conjunction with the primary procedure code.
