Tthe provider removes the uterus and cervix through the vagina, in a procedure known as a vaginal hysterectomy.  The provider accesses the abdomen through a laparoscope to cut the upper uterine attachments. This procedure is done to treat fibroids and is for a uterus that is larger than normal, which means it weighs more than 250 g.
