Summary

In this procedure, the provider removes a portion of skull bone to access an aneurysm and locates the blood vessel that feeds the aneurysm. He also accesses the internal carotid artery by making an incision in the neck and occludes the artery with a clamp. He then places a tiny metal clip on the neck of the aneurysm to stop blood flow to it.
