In this add on procedure, the provider uses a small endoscope to access the brain to place or replace a ventricular catheter for a shunt system or for external drainage. This service is performed as an initial placement to drain cerebrospinal fluid, or CSF, from the ventricles of the brain and reduce pressure, or the provider replaces a catheter due to a blockage in the flow of the CSF.
