In this procedure, the provider makes an incision and implants a neurostimulator electrode array on a peripheral nerve, the portion of the nervous system lying outside the brain and spinal cord. This service is done to treat chronic pain not easily managed or controlled. This procedure is not done on a sacral nerve, one of a group of five paired nerves that arise on both sides of the spinal cord.
