The provider delivers surface radiation therapy (SRT) with greater than 150 to 500 kilovoltage (kV) X rays, known as orthovoltage radiation, for one treatment session (per fraction). This technique is used for skin cancers or other lesions that need slightly deeper treatment, as orthovoltage beams penetrate up to 4 cm from the skin surface.
