The lab analyst performs the technical lab test using a specimen such as formalin–fixed paraffin embedded tissue (FFPE) to analyze NTRK (neurotrophic receptor tyrosine kinase) translocations for the NTRK1, NTRK2, and NTRK3 genes that may be associated with tropomyosin receptor kinase (TRK)–mediated cell proliferation involved in certain solid tumors.
