The lab analyst performs technical lab tests to analyze DNA methylation at more than 10,000 sites across the genome using DNA from central nervous system (CNS) tumor tissue. The results are processed by an one or more algorithms that compare the patient?s tumor profile to reference tumor families and classes and reports a probability score for classification. If performed, the test also evaluates methylation of the MGMT (O–6–methylguanine–DNA methyltransferase) gene promoter to help predict response to certain chemotherapies.
