The provider administers a meningococcal recombinant lipoprotein vaccine intramuscularly to prevent the patient from getting a meningococcal disease such as Neisseria meningitides, as part of a two– or three–dose schedule. The vaccine is recommended for individuals 10 years old and older who are at risk for the disease.
