The provider uses a mechanical aspiration device to remove clot material (thrombus) from a coronary artery or coronary artery bypass graft. This is performed through a catheter inserted percutaneously (through the skin) and guided into the coronary circulation. This is an add–on code, reported in addition to the primary coronary service performed in the same session.
