Hi All, I am looking for some insight on the Medical Nutritional Therapy for Mental Health. So far CMS is reimbursing only for MNT with primary diagnosis related to Diabetes Mellitus or Kidney Disorders. While traditionally focused on diabetes or renal disease, MNT is covered for mental health conditions such as anorexia or bulimia. My question is will MNT be covered for other mental health conditions like Bipolar, Depressions, Anxiety etc.
 
probably not, but it may be payer specific. You wouldn't want to code the psychiatric condition; code the symptoms, or issues related to the need for MNT, such as weight loss, etc.
