Has AAPC been involved with the CPT Editorial Board with its plan for the planned unbundling of the global code for maternity billing 59400? It seems like the impact may be great with regard to billing processes and insurance negotiation.

When do you think AAPC will begin webinars on the topic.

AAPC's Raemarie Jimenez and other AAPC members like Le Church, MD are very involved with the CPT Editorial board. Because these kinds of decisions have a lot of moving parts, and this is not slated until 2027, education will not be forthcoming until after the AMA's CPT Symposium and/or January 1st to ensure that all communication has been released and the details are correctly conveyed. It would be risky to train on an expected change before it was actually finalized. I wouldn't look for any training/webinars before early 2027, but I would encourage you to attend the symposium in November of 2026 so that you can hear the rationale behind the changes.
