We just started billing 92229 for DM retinopathy eye exams done in the pcp office. We want to report the HEDIS/MIPS codes as well. We can not agree on what codes should be used. Any recomondations? Currently we are being told to use 2022f for negative results and 2024f for postive results. Is this correct?

Here is the documentation used for a negative result: Retinal imaging performed today for diabetic eye screening per provider order. Images successfully obtained and transmitted for interpretation. Negative for more than mild diabetic retinopathy. Patient to retest in 12 months.

We do the same type of retinopathy exam. I attached the billing & coding guide we use that was provided by the company we got our machine from.
Negative screenings, we use 2033F: Diabetic eye exam without evidence of retinopathy.
Positive screenings we use 2026F: Diabetic eye exam with evidence of retinopathy.
