Hello, I am finding conflicting information regarding this HCPCS code. Does TREATMENT have to be performed to bill this code? The majority of the time, EMS arrives on scene, takes patient's vitals, applies a pulse ox, provides no treatment, and patient refuses transport. That scenario is an evaluation only, it's not treatment. Is treatment a mandatory requirement to use this code or is just doing an assessment enough? It's maddening that there's really not a definitive source of information on this fairly new code. I've probably looked at 100+ websites and there's either false information (on one in particular) or mixed information. The Official Coding Guidelines state when the word "and" is used it can be interpreted as "and/or" in a title. Does that apply here? Would greatly appreciate any input on this. Thank you!
