"Examination by mirror of larynx including......and, also for the Examination by mirror of nasopharynx including......., there is, in parenthesis, at the end of both of these exams the disclaimer (Use of mirror not required in children); I interpret this to mean the exam is still carried out however no mirror is necessary for children, our ENT interprets this to mean these 2 portions of the exam can be omitted in children. I can understand that it's possible to be unable to view some of these additional body areas without a mirror so why do it but then I rationalize that it should be stated as (This exam can be omitted for children). Any thoughts?
