Help! I have a new GI specialist, fresh out of residency who we are trying to teach proper documentation. We are having a hard time with the Exam. He states that he would only ever do a single organ GI exam, but that is not a category in itself. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of exam he would need to meet the qualifications for higher levels? Thanks

He may only do a GI exam, but wouldn't he do vitals, general apperance of patient, orientation x3, maybe even mood/affect?

He may be looking at the abdomen and noting a scar; I think that's skin.

I'm thinking multisystem exam.............just a thought.

thanks
Tina
