Hi all-
I have a question and here it is:
Labor and Devilery--
Patient had Epidural at 1:30 pm by Dr A.
Then, Dr B comes in at 7am and takes over case for Dr. A
At 16:20-17:39 a C/S is done by Dr. B.
Then a post-op f/u is done by Dr. B the next day.
So, how do I bill for Dr. B?
I know that you cannot bill for 01968 alone. I know Dr. A would be the 01967. I was always told to bill for the AA who placed the epidural for the entire case. But I'm just not sure as a different doctor did the C/S.
Please clarify,
Thanks

Each office handles this differently. We handle this in house. Our doctors have agreed to let whomever started the case to be on the claim. They take over for one another all the time.

I have had a few of these. I now enter each seperately and make a note in the account for the financial rep. I let them know they may need to send records to show the two different providers for this. Our providers do take over for each other all the time but in this case the head of our department stated that the labor epidural and c-section are two seperate cases and must be entered as such.
