Wiki 2 E&M Visit on sameday

I have a general question regarding a office visit and an admit on the sameday.

The physician seen the patient in the office and then the patient was admitted, the physician that saw the patient in the office was not the admitting MD, but went and seen the patient at the hospital.

What can we bill for the hospital visit? OR can we bill 2 E&M's on the sameday?

Typically only one visit per day unless they are unrelated is billable.

If they are from the same practice with the same specialty, then you would upcode (combine both visits) and you would bill it as the initial hospital visit...not the office visit.

If they are from seperate practices, then both physicians would be entitled to bill for their work.
