We have a provider that informed us she spent 2 hours in an outpatient therapy session with a patient. The 90808 is 75-80 minutes. Does anyone know what to bill to get the maximum reimbursement for this 120 minute therapy session? The patient insurance is a commercial plan. Thanks for your help!
 
Does the documentation for that visit support the medical necessity of a visit that length? If there was good reason and the notes reflect it, maybe you can bill a 90808-22. I have never tried this before, but maybe worth a shot.
You have to bill the code that best reflects what the provider did, not just the one that gets paid the most.
