Wiki 2% sequestration reduction

Our office does not accept assignment with Medicare, are we required to take the 2% reduction? How about Medicare Advantage plans? What services are we required to if so.

I believe the patient is responsible for the 2% if you do not accept assignment. Medicare will still take the reduction before making payment but you should be paid full amount by the patient. As for MA plans, it depends on how your contract with them reads (if you are contracted). We have some plans that base their payments on current Medicare allowable and they are applying the 2% reduction. Others are a contracted rate not based on current Medicare so they are not.
