Unsure how to code the following situation:
"Toward the end of his surgery (after the cataract was removed) the eye became too firm to implant an IOL. He left the operating room and after 2 hours I re-evaluated his condition and deemed it safe to return to the OR and complete the surgery by inserting the IOL."
The doctor is asking if it's appropriate to code a 2-stage procedure on the same day. I don't see any CPTs related to a 2-stage cataract surgery. Would 66984 w/ modifier 22 be appropriate?
