Good morning,
I have an ambulatory surgical encounter that one general surgeon removed a lesion and sentinel lymph node then another general surgeon performed skin graft directly following.
Do I bill for each surgeon independently since they each performed their own procedure, do I bill the second with a modifier since they are both of the same service or something different all together? My supervisor and surgical services director wants 'an authoritative reference'. I've been researching and not finding what I think they want. Any assistance and guidance is greatly appreciated.

I have the same scenario but, different specialty. Hoping my comment takes this to the top of the forum for someone that may know. I believe this falls under co-surgeon guidelines but, its been quite some time since my certification and hasn't come up since. I would need to find my training manual otherwise.

What CPT code(s) are being billed by the 2 surgeons, you cannot determine if co-surgeons are allowed without the codes being used.
