Hi all, I code for Pain Management. With the CPT updates that rolled out, I see that we are supposed to report add on codes twice with an RT/LT. Doing so for several of the add-on codes we use results in an MUE. I'm getting a lot of questions from the billers in how this can be resolved. Here is an example:

64490-50
+64491-RT
+64491-LT

The billing supervisor recommended -59. I have no idea if that would work, and even if it would; is it appropriate?

Anyone else dealing with something similar? If so, how are you dealing with it?
