Wiki 24 Hour pump Removal

How do you bill for a pump removel. Pt comes in just to get a 24 hour pump removed. Do you bill OV or is there a pump removal code??

Some payers consider the pump disconnection to be included in pump initiation
(96416), while others will permit the service to be reported with a low-level E/M code (e.g. 99211).

We just charge for a flush 96523 and heparin J1642 used if that is all that is being done.

Our offices only use the 99211 for a DC pump, we don't use it for an OV even though it is a E&M code.
