CPT 27096 injection procedure for sacroilliac joint, anesthetic/steroid, with image guidance (fluroscopy or CT) including arthrography when performed -

I have a provider utilizing ultrasound guidance. CPT says if CT or fluroscopy not performed, used CPT 20552. From what I read, US is not CT/fluro and does not guarantee provider is in the joint.

Is ultrasound approved for this procedure/CPT as well, or not?

Ultrasound is not billable with this code. You must use CT or Flouro. CPT is correct that if US was used, you billed it as 20552 with 76942.
