Hi,

I am having some problems with CPT 36591.
scenario:

Patient comes in for office vist and is sent back to lab for CBC as they try to draw the blood by venipunture method they are not able to obtain the blood sample so they use the port to take blood sample.
We will

36415 CBC
36591 BLOOD DRAW

My getting denial for 96591 stating inappropiate coding cobination.
my questions is should I add mof -59?:confused:
 
36591 is only billable if it is the only service performed that day. It cannot be billed with any other service. You are going to have to choose between billing the 99211 and 36415 (documentation must support the 99211) or the 36591.
