Would i be able to bill 38746- with 39400 ( mediastinoscopy).

Dr. takes biopsy of R2, R4, 7, L4...

I am confused b/c 39400 says with biopsy.

Thank you

You can bill these two together. 39400 is for a mediastinal lymph node biopsy. 38746 is a separate incision over the sternum and a biopsy is done near the lungs, heart, and behind the trachea. Hope this helps...

The last post is correct if the physician made another/separate incision to do a lymph node dissection. Although your question is not clear, I was under the assumption that your surgeon performed a mediastinoscopy and took biopsies at that time (with the mediastinoscope). If so, then only bill 39400.

Thank you so much Everyone
Yes Lisi you are correct the physician is only making one incision and took biopsies with the scope. I will stick to just 39400.
